Wikibase is a free and open-source software suite that allows its users to create and run their own open knowledge base. Maintained by Wikimedia Deutschland and a global community, Wikibase is the open and free software solution for institutions and research projects with a structured data collection.

Wikibase is currently being used by projects and institutions in the research, government and GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) sectors. You can learn more about them in our showcase section.

The community around Wikibase includes Wikibase users, partners, volunteer developers and tool builders, forming the vibrant and diverse Wikibase Ecosystem. In this ecosystem, we imagine that one day all the Wikibase instances will be connected between themselves and back to Wikidata.
