Give a short description of your project, specifically mentioning why you chose to use Wikibase.

We use Wikibase for creating the knowledge graphs with German company data. The original data often comes from printed books. These books are then scanned, digitized, OCR-ed and structured at Mannheim University Library. We semantify structured data via creating Wikibase knowledge graphs. We chose Wikibase, because it provides a collaborative environment, API and SPARQL endpoint and there are many extra services. For example, the reconciliation service for OpenRefine.

Describe the process of establishing and displaying the license under which you could publish the data found in your Wikibase.

The process of establishing a license is complex and involves negotiations with publishers of original books. However, if an agreement is reached, displaying a license in Wikibase is straightforward. We put licensing info at the bottom of all pages in a Wikibase instance. An example is available at https://akf.kgi.uni-mannheim.de.

Did Wikibase meet your needs? Describe the challenges and successes you faced when implementing Wikibase.

Wikibase is still far from being a perfect software for building a knowledge graph. But if you want to save history of changes and need to create a knowledge graph collaboratively, Wikibase is one of the best options.
